The Gospel

The issues we battle in life are the result of the sin curse that is in the world and touches every human being. The Gospel is the good news of how God, through His grace, can deliver us from the power of that curse. Very simply, it is the greatest story ever told. Jesus was God who became man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for the sins of the world, and three days later, rose from dead. Here is what the Gospel means.

  1. All people are sinners in the eyes of God. “There is none that is righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10 “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
  2. We deserve death and eternal punishment for our sins. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
  3. God loves you and has made a way for your sins to be forgiven. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
  4. We cannot be good enough to save ourselves. “For by grace are ye saved, through faith. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9
  5. How can we be saved? “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9,10
  6. Call upon the Lord and He will save you! “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

Perhaps you may call on God in this way: Dear Lord, I realize I am a sinner. I know my sins have separated me from you. I am sorry for my sins and believe that you are the only way of salvation. I believe that you died on the cross and rose again. I confess you as my Lord and ask you to save me according to your word. Thank you for loving me and saving me. Amen
